Spanish Literacy
In middle school, students continue to read progressively more challenging texts, discuss and debate the books and articles they read, and advance their writing skills. Works widely regarded as “classics” and written by authors such as Mario Vargas Llosa, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Isabel Allende are introduced. Students expand their Spanish vocabulary by reading works written by authors all over the Spanish speaking world, including newspapers and magazines. They deepen their sense of grammar and develop a growing understanding and appreciation for the many nuances of the Spanish language.
